Curriculum Outcomes for KG1

By the end of the academic year the Kindergarten 1 learners are assessed on these outcomes:

Mathematics

Recognizing numbers from 0 to 5

Counting objects from 0 to 5

Forming numbers from 0 to 5

Identifying and copying basic shapes (circle, square, triangle, rectangle, oval, diamond)

Identifying colours

Sorting objects into sets based on attributes e.g. colour

Position in space

Analysis and synthesis: building of a 12 piece puzzle

Fine motor skills

Strengthening the small muscles in their hands by manipulating mate-rials such as:

Counting: cardinal counting up to 50, in 10’s up to 100, backwards from 10 – 0
